MLA announces new managing director

19 Apr, 2011 10:29 AM
MEAT and Livestock Australia's (MLA) regional manager for North America, Scott Hansen, will take over as the organisation's new managing director.

Mr Hansen, who has been based in Washington DC since 2009, will replace David Palmer in the role after Mr Palmer signalled his intention to quit last December.

A former executive director of the Victorian Farmer Federation Pastoral Group and Sheepmeat Council of Australia, Mr Hansen has been at the heart of the MLA campaign to increase beef, lamb and goat meat marketing efforts in the US, Canada and Mexico.

MLA chairman, Don Heatley, said Mr Hansen's experience in a range of roles in the Australian red meat industry would bring a depth of industry knowledge to the position.

"Scott has spent the last 15 years in executive roles providing services to the Australian red meat and livestock industry - a career that has kept him close to his rural origins," Mr Heatley said.

"I have no doubt Scott will take on this important role with great energy and commitment to drive MLA to continue to deliver the best possible services to our industry."

Just another public servant from within, just a figurehead to carry out the Minister's bidding; when are the stockowners throughout the country going to wake up to this manipulation? Deregulation is what we should be fighting for…

Like everything inside of MLA Mr Heatley seems to be confused specifically with the last paragraph in which and to be more accurate Heatley should have said: “*With our money,*I have no doubt Scott will take on this important role with great energy and commitment to drive MLA to continue to deliver the best possible *livestock owner regulation* to *the meat processing* industry."

What are brains trust in the good old boys of Cattle Council and Sheepmeats Council going to do now that the meat processors have taken over MLA??

I’m sure that Scott will continue to enjoy a salary drawn from the back’s of other peoples hard earned money!
